Stephen Rimmer
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Rimmer has been involved in the commercial aviation industry including worldwide aircraft and engine trading activities for over 40 years. He co-founded Altavair in 2003 and is responsible for its overall strategy and management. Prior to Altavair, Mr. Rimmer founded XS Aviation Ltd., a commercial aircraft investment management and advisory company in 2000. Before XS, he co-founded Curtis & Company, a boutique aviation lease and finance arranging company, where he remained a principal in charge of its London office from 1991 through 1999. During this same time, Mr. Rimmer founded Curtis Power Company, an early commercial engine leasing company, which he later sold to General Electric in 2001. At its height, Curtis Power Company managed and leased over 90 engines to airlines around the globe. Mr. Rimmer has held senior management positions with several prominent firms in the commercial aviation industry, including Security Pacific.
Paul Newrick
President & Managing Director

Mr. Newrick has been involved in the commercial aviation industry, with a focus on financing and leasing activities for over 40 years. He co-founded Altavair in 2003 and is responsible for the overall strategy and management of its affiliate, Altavair (UK) Limited, along with being the Head of Aircraft Trading & Portfolio Management. Prior to Altavair, Mr. Newrick worked with Mr. Rimmer in the formation of XS Aviation Limited in 2000. Before that, Mr. Newrick founded the aircraft investment management company Xavian Limited in 1998, and during the prior decade, he held senior management positions at several banks specializing in aviation finance, including Industrial Bank of Japan, Ltd., Svenska Finans, and HypoBank International S.A., having started in the banking sector with Security Pacific National Bank. He commenced his career in aviation as an undergraduate apprentice in Aeronautical Engineering with British Aerospace in Filton from 1979 to 1988, during which time he worked extensively within the ongoing Concorde program and completed his honors degree at Bristol University.
Matthew Hoesley
Head of Acquisitions & Investments

Mr. Hoesley joined Altavair in 2005 and is responsible for all investment and origination activities along with aircraft financing, bank relationships, and leading the Origination and Investment Groups. Before taking on his current role in the Seattle office, he started his career with Altavair as an Investment Associate and has also held roles in the London office as Marketing Director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and Head of Finance and Portfolio Management where he was responsible for aircraft financing and bank relationships along with leading the analyst team supporting purchase and sale underwritings, assisting with portfolio management initiatives, and the preparation of various investment and investor reports. Mr. Hoesley graduated from Georgetown University in 2005.
Timothy O’Hara
Head of Operations

Mr. O’Hara has over 30 years of experience in the commercial aviation industry. He joined Altavair in 2007 and is responsible for Operations, overseeing Legal, Technical, Contract Management, Human Resource, and Accounting Groups. Prior to joining Altavair L.P., Mr. O’Hara worked as an Aircraft Finance Attorney for Boeing Capital Corporation from 2000 to 2007 and, before that, he was a Legal Associate at Vedder Price in Chicago, working in its Aircraft Finance Group. During his legal career, he managed hundreds of new and used aircraft transactions representing both domestic and international clients. Mr. O’Hara graduated magna cum laude with a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Illinois Chicago, School of Law. Before attending law school, he worked for several years as a commercial pilot, transporting equipment, fuel, and explosives to villages and gold mines throughout Alaska. His association with commercial aviation began at an early age while working for his family’s commercial aircraft parts sales company where he inventoried parts during his summers and later managed a commercial aviation windshield repair station immediately after college. Mr. O’Hara received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington in 1991.
Shirley Rigg-Cloves
General Counsel & Head of Legal

Ms. Rigg-Cloves is an English Solicitor with over 30 years of experience providing advice to the commercial aviation industry. She joined Altavair in 2003 and is based in London and is responsible for overseeing and managing all legal matters and prior to that was Group General Counsel at XS Aviation Ltd., working alongside Mr. Rimmer and Mr. Newrick from 2001 to 2003. She joined from the international law firm of Watson, Farley & Williams where she was an equity partner and previously an associate with the international law firm Clyde & Co., London. Ms. Rigg-Cloves has extensive experience advising on and project-managing private equity fund investments, management buyouts, joint ventures, commercial aircraft financings, sales, purchases, leases, and conversions. As a law partner, she acted for a variety of insurance companies, banks, and airlines handling non-contentious and contentious asset finance, management and trust matters, international litigation and arbitrations, work-outs and repossessions worldwide, air casualties, and regulatory and compliance matters. Ms. Rigg-Cloves graduated from Newcastle University in England with full honours (LLB, Bachelor of Laws) and from the Guildford College of Law and is admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales.
Andrew Carpenter
Head of Tax & Accounting
[ ALTAVAIR L.P., SEATTLE ]
Mr. Carpenter has over 19 years of public and private equity fund-related accounting experience. He joined Altavair in 2009 and is responsible for managing the accounting, tax, treasury, FP&A, and investor reporting functions for Altavair business entities and managed aviation funds. From 2006 to 2008, he worked for BlackRock Alternative Advisors where he managed the financial and investor reporting process of a $400+ million fund of funds. Prior to Blackrock, he worked for Ernst & Young where he was an auditor on several public clients focused on aircraft parts manufacturing, aircraft leasing, and retail industries. Mr. Carpenter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in both Accounting and Financial Economics from the University of Redlands.
Joe Gleeson
Head of Technical

Mr. Gleeson has over 30 years of experience in the commercial aviation industry. He joined Altavair in 2010 in the London office to lead the Technical Group. He later transferred to the Seattle office and continues to be responsible for all technical matters including transitions, conversions, asset/lease evaluation, asset/lease management, technical cash flow forecasts, technical aspects of contract documents, and technical negotiations. Mr. Gleeson commenced his career in aviation in 1991 as a project engineer in the systems engineering department of TEAM Aer Lingus. He was the on-site Aer Lingus representative at Boeing in Seattle in 1992 and at Airbus in Toulouse in 1994. In 1994, he was promoted to Manager, Maintenance Programs & Reliability at TEAM Aer Lingus, managing the team responsible for maintenance programs for Aer Lingus and other customer fleets, and deputized for the Engineering Manager. In 1999, Mr. Gleeson joined AerFi (more recently known as AerCap), and managed aircraft transitions for five years. In 2005, he was promoted to Fleet Manager with AerCap to set the technical standards for the AerCap fleet and AerCap lease documents, manage the technical aspects of used aircraft acquisitions and disposals, prepare technical cash flow forecasts, and report to the boards of AerCap’s securitization portfolios. In 2009, Mr. Gleeson was promoted to Head of Technical EMEA & APAC with AerCap, managing the Technical Group responsible for aircraft placement, transitions, and on-lease management. Mr. Gleeson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical) awarded by Trinity College, Dublin.
